Busy!

Wow! This month and next month are both crazy busy..... It all starts this weekend. I am hosting a baby shower along with my mother and sister Penny on Saturday at 2pm. It's for my sister in law, Courtney. Lizzy also has a choir mini concert at a Borders book store on Metcalf just before the baby shower. Then, Saturday night we are going to a "I bought my house 20 years ago" party for Jeff's friend Jeff. It'll be a BBQ/Card Game. That will be fun but what a busy day! Sunday we have lot's of plans too....including my nephews birthday party (I can't believe he's 5).

The week of Thanksgiving, we are leaving to go to my Dad's on Friday morning and returning Sunday evening. The whole clan is going- even Sumo.

The next weekend is Jeff's 45th birthday and our anniversary. We are having a poker/birthday party at our house on Friday, the 30th. Then Saturday the 1st we will celebrate our anniversary. We're not exchanging gifts- we're getting a hotel room so we can go have drinks, and celebrate an anniversary how a husband and wife are suppose to! Haha...

THEN- the weekend after that (Dec. 5-10 actually) Dusty and Adam are staying with us...that's going to be great.

Ok......looooooong story short- I have every single weekend booked between now and the first of the year. I do it to myself and I do enjoy keeping busy......but GEEZ!

Our Weekend

We had a great weekend! I got to reunite with several friends from the past- that by far was the coolest thing! My good friend Jason got engaged to a great girl, and I've been asked to be in their wedding....that's pretty cool too. Sumo got his jewel's cut off...poor baby- he took it like a trooper though! He's happy and not having any problems at all. Here he is on the last day he was "whole" ..haha

The weather has been beautiful here. It's just starting to feel like Fall. The trees are turning lots of beautiful colors, and the air is pretty crisp. Here is a picture of a tree in a park by our house. I think it's pretty. I love Fall, it's my favorite season. I love bringing out the warmer clothes.....making more "comfort" food etc. I also LOVE the holidays!!! Taking Sumo on walks has been really nice in the cooler weather too. I swear he'd be happy living outside right now.

Jewel is still saving for a car. We have one lined up for her that will be available around the first of the year. This is great timing- she is saving now....and the good thing is the car she is going to get she's already got the money for. I'm very proud of how responsible she has been about saving money for a car.

We are having a baby shower at our house this weekend! My brother and sister-in-law are expecting in December. I'm excited to see them, it's been too long. I get excited when I think about having a new baby in the family. Joshua was the last baby and he's almost 5!! It's time for a little girl I think. If it's a boy that'll be nice too; he'll have older cousins to play with.

Also in a few weeks my younger sister and her husband will be staying with us while they are in town. That's going to be really nice too...and I'm excited to finally meet her husband Adam.

We Carved.....

Pumpkin carving went off without a hitch! Everyone carved....Lizzy even carved 2 leftover watermellons leftover from our garden. The "boys" (Wesley and Joshua) came over too and Penny and I helped them out a bit.

It's almost the weekend? Yikes

This week has really flown by. I only worked 8-11 yesterday and will do the same today so I know that has made this week go by fast. No sports events this week which is odd- but nice at the same time. Chris starts basketball this November. It's indoors and in KS so that will be really nice. We've been driving waaaay up North a few times a week for baseball the summer and fall seasons.

Tonight Penny and the boys are coming over to carve pumpkins...which is a yearly tradition. Penny and I assist the kids with carving....we even do our own...then we put the pumpkin on our faces and hands for "facials". Pumpkin is a natural exfoliant and Lord knows I need it! I'll have to post pics Monday of our carving experience. It's always a lot of fun. I'm so glad that we have yearly traditions that we do as a family. That's very important to me.

Speaking of family, we're going to see my dad in November. I'm really excited because this is the first time that all of us have gone out there. Coldwater, KS is about a 6.5 hour drive from where we live. Jeff, Kids, Sumo and I will all load up in the truck. We are going November 23, 24 and 25th.

We are going to see a band tonight called (no kidding) Magfuckingnificient. They are an AWESOME "The Cure" cover band. I think Penny might go too...which would be fun. They do an annual Halloween show- people dress up and everything. Maybe I'll get into the spirit and dress up a bit.

Catching Up

First of all, let's talk about my N. Carolina trip. It was a LOT of fun. My little sister Dusty has a nice apt., she seems to be doing very well on her own. Her husband is coming home from Iraq tomorrow ..yeah! Anyway, our time together was a lot of fun. We shopped, got pedicures, hung out, went out on her birthday and yes, I babysat her when she was drunk as a skunk. I expected and anticipated that though...considering it was her 21st birthday. This weekend was fun....We watched Chris play catcher at his baseball game for the first time this weekend. He's sooo serious! This was the last game of the season for the Jayhawks. I hope he plays on the same team next season. Basketball starts the end of November. He's going to be playing for the YMCA. I'm looking forward to it.

Oh yeah- Go Chiefs! 4-3!!!

I'm going to visit my sister!

I'm leaving tomorrow morning at 6am to go to North Carolina to visit my baby sister....who is turning 21 on Saturday. I'm really excited!

Look What I've Gotten Myself Into

Both of my daughters have told me at one point or another that they want me to write down all of my recipes and put them into a book for them to have. I've decided to go for it. I really like to cook....and I've been involving my kids in cooking their whole lives. Even Chris who is 7 stands on a stool and helps make salad or something easy. He loves it and I tell him all the time that his future wife will love the fact that he'll know how to cook. I'm not sure how long this will take me but I'm not in a huge hurry. I think I'll give it to them when they turn 18...so that's 2 years for Jewel at least. Anyway.....I've completed drafts of 6 dishes I make, and have a long list to complete. I'm not going for much structure or trying to make it fancy. I just want to put things I cook in writing...hopefully my kids will be making these meals for their kids someday!

My Weekend Was....

...Busy.

Friday night we went to North Kansas City to watch Chris play in his 1st baseball tournament. It was a GREAT game...but in the end they lost. That's ok...the get another shot when the rain lets up. Friday night night (after 9pm) Jeff and I went to visit a friend of his also in NKC...and watched a movie.

Saturday, we went to the Rennisanace Festival. Jeff, Lizzy and I had a really good time. It was extremely hot! Here is a picture of Lizzy and the Queen------>

Sunday we were suppose to have another baseball game ...but it got rained out. So- we hung around, watched the Chiefs game....took the dog to get his weight checked....64.5 lbs btw!!! It was a relaxing day but I did not sleep well last night ...so now I'm extremely sleepy!
