New "do"

I got rid of about 2lbs of dead weight yesterday....ok, maybe thats a stretch but it was about 15" of hair!

I have a new "do"....I've gotten rave reviews so far....thank you Kitch! Pictures...someday...haha

So I just realized....

...how old I am getting. I DVR'd the "Video Music Awards" on MTV and I'm watching them right now. I have discovered how out of touch I am with current music! I have seriously fast forwarded most of this show without realizing it. This song "I kissed a girl and I liked it"...pretty much sucks in my opinion but everyone (including my own kids) think it's the cutest thing since BRATZ dolls.

So, I'm old...well getting there. So, I guess I listen to "oldies".......it's cool. I'm growing old gracefully, right?

Mac-N-Seitz

My son Chris tried out and made it onto the Mac-N-Seitz 8 year old baseball team! This is a competitive traveling team that is tough to get on. I'm reaaaaaaaaaaaaly proud of him!

What a sad day....

LeRoi Moore 1961-2008. He died yesterday due to complications from an ATV accident he was involved in last June. Dave Matthews Band will never be the same. I'm so sad.

7 Months 1 Week 5 Days 10 Hours

The above is how long I've gone without ONE SINGLE cigarette. Yes, it's still a big deal. I'll probably be doing this counting until my 10 year mark! 16 years of my life won't be erased in 7 months. Anyway, yeah for me. No desire to go back.

I have been on a "diet and fitness program" since August 1st. My trip to Vegas was the last straw of sorts on my weight. I know I'm not fat...I'm really not overweight but I'm unhappy with my physical state. I'm flabby and flappy. I started putting everything I eat into a website that tracks calories, carbs etc and I've been doing cardio 5 days a week and guess what....lifting weights 3 days a week! How strange is that? I've never lifted weights in my life. I've been really enjoying it though. Jewel is even on board with it. I've lost 1 1/4" on my waist since August 1st already.

We bought 2 cars and sold 2 cars in the last month. Jewels car broke down- we sold it and bought her another one ...a nice 1997 Buick LeSabre. It runs very well and is pretty too. We had to look at a LOT of junkers to get to this one. We sold the Sable (Jeffs car) and bought him a 2000 Ford Focus. We'll pay that off in 2 years (or less) and then maybe get him a nicer car. Until he's in the 4cyl. gas saver. I'm SO over looking at cars- and selling cars. 2 drives to Topeka for titles too!

Well the kids started school again- thankfully. It's been a great summer...but I think we were all ready for school to start again. I enjoy the schedule and I think the kids do too.

Chris is trying out for a VERY competitive traveling baseball team next weekend. They are called Mac-N-Seitz. It's run by 2 ex pro ball players and frankly, it's the best baseball club in Kansas City. A lot of kids try out...only a few get selected. He has been practicing a lot and he's really good for his age. That does not mean he'll make the team but we're rooting for him.

Vegas Trip, Lizzys Room & DMB

3 really cool things to catch up on..... First I went to Vegas!


On July 10th Liz, Chris and I flew to Vegas to visit. Chris and I stayed for 4 days and Lizzy will actually be back tomorrow. Her trip is a total of 2 weeks. We had a lot of fun...visited a LOT of people including Dusty and Adam. It was so fun to see everyone. Dusty and I went to the hood...aka where I grew up. That was strange. We've come a long way. I also got to visit my friend Lin Newborns gravesite.

Lizzys bedroom. We made over Lizzy's bedroom for a surprise birthday present. It took about 15 hours of work ...I think it looks fantastic!

DMB!!!! Jeff and I drove to Omaha, NE and HOME last night to see Dave Matthews Band. It was a GREAT concert! We had suite tix too so we had a great view. The best DMB concert I've seen by far.

It's Cool...

Ok so my pinkeye only lasted about a day and a half. Thank Goodness! The 4th of July was a great time...my brother and his wife were excellent hosts. My mother got hit with a stray bottlerocket....which was terrible..but she was fine. Speaking of Mom...we're taking her to Strouds on Tuesday for her birthday! That'll be fun.

We're getting ready for our trip to Vegas on Thursday.....started to pack today. Chris, Liz and I are really excited...we have been really looking forward to this for several months now...it's almost time to go.

I can't wait to see my little sister!

Are You Kidding????

I can't believe it! It's 9:15 on Thursday night (Independence Day Eve) and guess what...I have PINK EYE. Who is responsible???? I can't go to the Dr. they are closed...I tried to go to Walgreens clinic...it's closed...I drove across the street to CVS...their clinic is closed. So I bought this over the counter drops to deal with "symptoms". I'm so upset. I have to wear these stupid glasses that I cannot see out of...these glasses are about 7 years old. I'm so bummed. I have to go to my brothers and spend time with my family tomorrow LIKE THIS. I cannot touch my kids...hold my baby niece ....or cook. ARGGGGGGGG

It's been a while...

Well I have not been inspired to blog since we saw The Cure. Not a ton has happened really. Jeff and I went to see Web Wilder..that was fun. Oh, we had VIP tickets to Rock Fest yesterday...just went for about an hour and a half at the end of the show. The "VIP" section was a joke in my opinion. The tent was a hot mess..muddy ground, no food and only hot bottled water was available to drink. There were several tables and folding chairs for people to sit on. Then the "VIP" viewing section was a large platform that they were only letting so many people on at once...so we got blocked a few times. It was not a great view anyway. I'm sure a lot of people had a very looooooooong day yesterday. We saw a LOT of people with terrible sunburns. After we left Rock Fest we went to breakfast.....it was goooood. Yes, I'm totally blowing my "diet"...June is health month you know. Well I have not done great the first 8 days. (woops)

Oh yeah, I turned 31 a week or so ago. Nothing special...just another birthday. They come and go.

I'm still dog walking. I'm doing 5 a week every week. I love it. I love the excersize and the "me" time. I intend to work out more and more....but I'm pretty pleased with my progress so far.

The dogs are great.....Sophie has come SO far. Here is a pretty recent picture of her. She is training really well and has calmed down a lot. I'm so proud of her progress.

Lizzy, Chris and I are going to Vegas July 10th...we are really looking forward to that! I'm so excited that Chris gets to go this time...he's got a lot of people to meet. We also get to spend some time with Dusty and her husband.
