Calcium

I realized today that I am not getting enough calcium. I have been having terrible cramping in my lower legs. It's starting to really bother me, so I decided to look on the internet and see if lack of calcium could be the culprit. Yes, in fact it can.....and I think it is. I have not been eating any dairy products at all for about 7 months now. I enjoy my new eating habits...but the sad fact is that I'm terrible at taking my calcuim suppliments. I need to/ WILL get better at taking those now that I have a tangable reason to.

RIP

Marcel Marceau passed away last Saturday September 22. He died of a heart attack in his house in France; he was 84. I am not a die hard fan or anything, but he was a very interesting person as well as an artist. I bet you if you say the name "Marcel Marceau" most people will say, yeah- I've heard the name.....but may not be able to tell you that he was in fact, the most famous mime artist that has ever lived. It's interesting to me that someone can actually make a living being a mime. He was a writer and an actor too- but miming (is that a word?) was his gig. In 1999 NYC declared March 18 to the Marcel Marceau Day....I'm not sure I'll mark my calendar, but I think it's pretty cool.

Chiefs Home Opener!

Jeff and I went to the Cheifs home opener yesterday. We had SO much fun! I love Arrowhead....love the fans....and love to see the game so close! We had my bosses' season tickets, so we were on the 50 yard line 28 rows up. Very good seats. It was hot- about 90 all day, so we both got a lot of sun....but it was SOOO worth it! The Chiefs won their first game in 2007 yesterday....13 to 10. It was a great day.

Sumo Update!

I just realized that I have not updated this blog on Sumo lately! He's GROWN so much....55 lbs. now! He's SUCH an awesome dog. He's off of his in house leash...done with that training which has proven to be a positive thing. I have not had ANY problems with him chewing things he should not or going to the bathroom in the house. We've trained him to ring a bell by the back door when he needs to go out. He is taking longer walks and is extremely obedient. He is a bit afraid of BIG trucks on the road, but we're working on that. He's very responsive to training...you can tell his brain is working. I've fallen in love with a dog...can you believe it? I still can't.

Sumo and Tiger (the kitty) are learning to live together. Sumo chases Tiger sometimes...but I do find them sitting in the front window together looking outside...it's so damn cute.

Tiger just turned 5! He's a great cat and we looooooove him so much. I did tell Lizzy the other day that if he's alive when she moves out she can take him. She is by far the most attached to him. They SPOON every night! The funny thing is that when Tiger was a kitten, Lizzy was always bugging him...picking him up...etc... and he use to attack her! Now- she even dresses him up....it's the funniest thing.

PS I'm LOVIN my new schedule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I start my new work schedule today!!!

For those of you who do not know...I've been on a quest to cut my schedule at work. It's not that Jeff and I are "rolling in it" so much that we can afford for me to work less- but I found myself in a position of feeling uncomfortable about the after school arrangements. I don't think my middle daughter is ready to be home alone each day for a few hrs. Anyway, I'm so excited about my new hours: 8:15-2:15 each day. This will free me up to take JD to work each day, then pick up my other two from school and get home around 3:25 or so. Homework can get done earlier and I'm positive I'll be a lot less stressed. I'm so happy that I can be a better Mom and grateful that my work will allow me to do this.

Fall is near!

I LOVE FALL! My favorite season is coming! I love it when the weather becomes more crisp- rains more etc... The colors of the trees here in KC are amazing...you just cannot beat the fall in KC. I LOVE the kick off of the holiday season; Halloween, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas! I love getting out my long sleeve shirts and wearing boots again. I also love the thought of turning OFF the air/heat for a few weeks! Ohhhh...and football season! Go Chiefs!
